HOSTS FILE NOT WORKING

i added entries like 127.0.0.1 nprotect.maplesea.com to hosts file at
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
When i enter google.com in my internet explorer, it does not redirect to
127.0.0.1.Instead it shows the actual site.What could be the case
this is my ping :
C:\Documents and Settings\Admin>ping nprotect.maplesea.com

So WHAT is the actual URL that you are clicking on from the Google
search results page? It may not be to the target site but instead a
redirect through a Google host.
