Local Area Connection - Cable Unplugged

The three high speed desktop network connections, two on
the motherboard and one a new etherenet card,
show "Network cable unplugged." When I plug the etherenet
cable into my laptop, it enables that connection and I
have to no problem getting an address from the router and
accessing the net. I cannot get the any of the three
desktop connections to enable. I've tried enabling from
system tray, unchecking power managenet and many other
appraoches. I even checked the bios and they are on auto.
Why do I show "network cable unplugged" when it's plugged
in? And, the same cable works fine on my laptop.

Either a hardware issue or a software issue with the desktops. The laptop
confirms that the cable and the switch/router are working fine.
