loading software hang

Last night I was loading various Allen Bradley PLC
programming software onto my Dell Laptop running Windows
XP Pro. While in the middle of one of the loads I started
receiving the following error message

[ {Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all
the data for the file . The data has been lost. This
error may be caused by a failure of your computer
hardware or network connection. Please try to save this
file elsewhere. ]

This morning when I turned it on I started receiving
window installation pop-ups that qucikly shut down by
themselves and then received the warning again, but this
time for other established programs i.e. firewall, spam
filter, anti-virus, etc. Recently, I received the error
after my antivirus was unable to scan my email.

I thought if I removed the offending programs, the AB
programs that I attempted to install last night, maybe
the issue would go away. When I went to remove the
program by using the OS control panel it said that I
needed to complete the installation first.

My confusion is overwhelming! What should I do? How do I
complete this hung installation or delete/cancel the
installation. Any and all help would be greatly
appreciated.

I'd check your disk. Chkdsk c: /f /r

Doesn't anyone use relays anymore. Building switchboards/process control on a computer. Sniff.

I've usually been a K&M man myself.
