loading over 2000 pro

I'm trying to load XP over 2000pro. It won't, saying copy
has no supported upgrade path. Am I screwed?
 
You need a "retail upgrade version" of Windows XP Professional
in order to upgrade over Windows 2000. Windows XP Home
Edition will not upgrade over Windows 2000.
