All,

When I load my homepage (MSN.com), it takes a while downloading a lot
of information/pictures and I can see the message on the taskbar indicating
the number of "items remaining"--starting around 50. When I start the same
home page on my office machine, the page loads more quickly and the "items
remaining" count is only around 2. And my office computer is a slower
machine. Any idea why my home machine seems to be downloading much more
information more slowly than my office machine? Thanks in advance for any
advice.

closed" checked off in ie ,tools, options ,advanced.

Kevin,

You were right. The box was indeed checked. I cleared it and now
we're back to normal. Many thanks for your helpful information.
