IE Homepage Problems

Hi there

I know I've posted this before but I would really appreciate an answer
to it.

We have just introduced a new Intranet and we have decided to make it
the Default Homepage for all users Internet Browsers. To do this I have

edited our Existing group policy as follows:-

User Configuration\Windows Settings\Internet Explorer
Maintenance\URLs/Important Urls\Home page URL http://Intranet/

We carried out this work at the weekend and tested with several Test
Acconts and all seemed fine. However this mornign some users were still

pointing to the old Homepage even though a GPRESULT shows that the
policy did take effect. Now in order to get around this I imported the
new Address to the Start Page Key in the Registry

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\]

I tried testing this fault on my own PC by deliberately changing this
to Google and logging back in to see if the Policy would overwrite this

change as I had expected but it had remained as google.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and what I can do to fix it
and make sure the policy runs correctly against all users.

Thanks

I don't really know - something to do with GPO refresh maybe? I really don't
know but I do know the folks who are most likely to be able to assist you
aren't in this group so I'm going to set this to cross-post to the Group
Policy group. I'm also going to set the Followup-To to the
microsoft.public.windows.group_policy group as well.

Galen, Thanks for pushing this to the GP group

Try creating a policy to remove XP fast boot. The fast boot attempts to
make it appear like the system booted up faster by getting the user into the
UI quicker - often before scripts and policies have had a chance to apply -
it's really annoying! I doubt your users will even notice and it fixes a lot
of issues with GP and Roaming Profiles.

Create a Computer Policy using Computer Config - Admin Templates -
System/Logon - Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon -
Enabled.
