List of what I've tried, send mail problem

I have everything exported from OE to WM, including the .iaf account
settings. All the mail's there, address book, etc. I'm unable to send mail,
however.

I get this error message:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Fw: New Release Posting
for MWA website and bulletin-December', Account: 'pop-server.cinci.rr.com',
Server: 'smtp-server.cinci.rr.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL):
No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I have uninstalled Norton 360 trial, which came with computer;
I have confirmed in the Task Manager that no AV software is running;
I have turned off the Vista firewall temporarily to try to send mail,
I have done live chat with RoadRunner and re-set up my accounts in MW,
I have installed any Windows updates required.

I really, really don't want to use Windows Live Mail. Any other ideas on
what I can try?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Oh goodness, FINALLY something that has worked.
<wiping forehead>

The Norton Removal tool did the trick.

I didn't want to use Windows Live because I installed it and saw that it was
web-based. I just want a nice, easy e-mail program -- I don't want Twitter
updates and calendaring or IM, etc. Even on the custom install I did of Live,
it has more bells'n'whistles than I wanted. E-mail. Send. Receive. Organize.
That's all I wanted.

Thanks again for your help.

Good to hear that Norton removal tool did the trick.
It's amazing what all troublemaking junk they leave behind.
