List of docs in MY DOCUMENTS is scrambled. How to alphabetize?

All of sudden a few days ago I went to MY DOCUMENTS (Word 2003) and the list
of documents was all scrambled in random order. Always had been in
alphabetical order.
What can I do to get it back in alphabetical order?

1. If you are looking at "My Documents" in Word's "Open" dialog box, at
the top of the dialog box you may see something like:

"Look in: My Documents"

followed by several buttons, then

"Tools"

2. If you see that, the button immediately to the left of "Tools" has a
dropdown arrow. Click on that, and you should see a list containing
"Thumbnails", "Tiles", "Icons" and so on. Click "Details".

3. If you got that far, you should see a list of documents with columns
showing Name, Type, Size and Date Modified.

4. If you click at the top of the "Name" column, the list of documents
should be sorted in alphabetical sequence (A-Z), or click again if it is
in reverse alphabetical sequence (Z-A)
