How to link cells between 2 embedded excel worksheet inside Words?

Word, although I have gotten it to work, sorta, in Word 2003.
Basically, you'd need to copy the cell in one object, close it, open
the other and paste special with a link. But that link may not
update automatically once the document has been closed.
More reliable, certainly, would be to have the two worksheets in a
separate Excel file, and do the linking there.
The other way to go would be a macro to perform the data update,
although you'd have to give some thought about what actions should
trigger this.
