linking a xp machine to a 98 machine

hey i have a crossover cable hooking up both computers. i tried to set up a
home network so i can play games and stuff but with no luck. i did all the
stuff on the xp box and made sure it was in the right work group as the other
one then made a network wizard disk and booted it on the 98 machine but still
neither of them can find the other in the network only themselfs. how do i
make them find each other

Can they ping each other? Also make sure you enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP. This link may help,
