Networking Home XP machine & Win 98 machine

Patrick

I have run the network setup wizard on the XP machine. I
sad yes to creating the floppy disk and ran the install
program from the floppy on the 98 machine. Both computers
are on the workgroup named HOME the 98 machine is named
JANE. XP machine is named neil. Neil can ping Jane but
not vice versa. On neil, at the dos prompt I have typed
\\Jane\janed where janed is the name of the shared drive
on the computer named Jane. I get a network path not
found message. Both machines are connected to a linksys
router and can access the internet via the network.
Any ideas?

1. Log onto both machines with the same user name and password.

2. Disable the firewall on the XP machine and make sure NetBIOS is enabled.

3. On the XP machine - Start/Run regedit ENTER, navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Remote
Computer\NameSpace

Delete this key:
