Line Spacing in Word 2007

I am trying to reduc the line spacing in a Word 2007 document. The document
is currently using 1.15 spacing. The spacing look as follows below in
Example 1. I am trying to reduce it so that I can underline the first line
and have the next line right below it as in Example 2. However when I reduce
the line spacing below 1.15 it does not really do what you would think. By
the time I get to 0.5 it cuts off the top of the first line and the bottom of
the second line. I am not really sure how to do this and not cut off the
tops/bottoms of the lines

There are two elements to setting line spacing in Word: 1) line spacing,
and 2) spacing before and after a paragraph. In Word 2007, the default
line spacing is 1.15 lines, the default spacing before a paragraph is 0
points, and the default spacing after a paragraph is 10 points. You
probably want to change the document defaults to single line spacing and
0 points spacing after paragraph. See

"Single" line spacing allows the lines to move apart to accommodate
different-sized fonts (even if they're the same point size), sub- and
superscripts, etc. If your line spacing is set to a too-small
"Exactly" value, the characters can get cut off if they're big for
their point size.

Also, in Office Button > Word Options > Advanced > Layout Options (at
the very bottom), be sure "Don't add extra space ..." and "Don't add
leading ..." are not checked.
