Line beside mouse cursor

Suddenly a vertical line about 1" long is appearing next to my mouse cursor,
and I can't get rid of it. I have tried everything that I can think of, but
nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

Try: Control Panel > Mouse > Pointers tab
