Limited User Account Capabilities

I'm new to XP Home Edition, and I'm trying to understand what capabilities a
limited account will have on my PC. My 6 year old has a limited account.
She recently deleted some icons from her desktop, and they also disappeared
from my administrator desktop. Is this the way it is supposed to work? It
doesn't seem very limited if she can change my desktop from her logon.
Thanks.

Wow , it isn't normal a limited user to delete icons that disappears from all
users.
Limited users cannot install/remove any program or cannot modify settings.
Make sure your admin account is passoword protected.
It is important however your daughter is young.

When you set up a passwork for your admin account , Windows will ask you if
you want to make files private ,Choose YES and all folders in your user
profile include My Documents and its subfolders, Desktop, Start Menu, and
Favorites will be private.Keep your most important data in MyDocuments.

1. Download that file and learn how to protect your PC and read the
"Parental control section" which is very useful if you have six years old
child.

2. Read this really useful info from Microsoft

Hi,

There are shared items and user-account specific items. What she deleted
(obviously) were shared ones. Open Windows Explorer to:

C:\Documents and Settings

Under here you will see a user folder for each logon, as well as an "All
Users" folder and an Administrator folder (you may also see additional ones
like Owner, it depends on how the installation was created). Under each user
you will find a desktop folder, eg:

C:\Documents and Settings\daughter\desktop

Icons here are specific to her account. Ones found here:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop

are shared by all user accounts, which also have the same level of
privileges in that they can all manipulate or delete the icons. To keep an
icon to yourself, just move it into your account's desktop folder. Same
thing goes for favorites and documents.
