I have a Westell modem (Model 6110) which can connect to Web either by NIC or
USB and both connections give the same result-Limited or
No Connectivity. Upon examining the connection I have not gotten a Default
Gateway or DNS address. Is this a Network problem and how can this be
tested? Thanks, Jason Sachs.

Do you create the dialup connection and input user name and password?

Thank you for your reply, Perhaps I didn't make it clear that the connection is DSL and I use the LAN connection and name and password are not required.

Thank you for your reply. I must apoligize for my lack of knowledge about the terms as used by MS about communications; However, I will attempt to provide answeres for the requested information.

As to the requested information I can say the following. I am connecting to
my ISP via an ADSL with my connection as a static IP address. The connection
to the Westell modem requires, at first, a dynamic IP to use Westell's modem
configuration program at 192.168.1.1. MS Windows(HOME) by defaulat connects
to this address, upon creating the connection, by use of the 'automatic'
procedure or 'Obtain IP Adress Automatically' selected. I have not yet
checked with my ISP as to wheither I can connect over the same connection by
both methods?

The procedure of connection is like this:
you PC visit ADSL Modem by dialup program with account and
password.(wether by USB or NIC).
and the Modem connect with telephone cable.
mostly, create a connection by dialup program and run the connection,
then input account and password is OK.
