I hope I've found the right section here to post this problem in.

I was having a problem with the Windows Wireless Connection program not showing any wireless networks in the "Choose a wireless network" area. It said check your wireless is switched on, which it was.

I followed someone's advice creating a .bat file in system32 and startup folder and restarted, now the a few networks show up. Unfortunately, I still can't connect though.

Signal is at full, it just says not connected.

I entered the WEP password and it said acquiring network address with the little Preffered Network star next to it then came up with limited or no connectivity.

Under the support tab of wireless network connection status window, I tried repairing and the same happened. It comes up with

Address type : Automatic Private Address

When I click the "details" button;
physical address, ip address and subnet mask are filled

but no default gateway,
DNS server or
WINS server.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi KlickingKarl,

This seems to be interesting hmmm. You can try to uninstall and reinstall drivers for both Wi - fi and then Bluetooth and check what happens. Also try this ie Start - RUN - cmd - ipconfig /all - reply with details let's check what exactly is bothering you.

Regards,
Chris

I did try installing a driver update from their website. It didn't do anything that I remember. Perhaps I should try it again, but if I uninstall the driver where do I re-install it from? I don't have bluetooth on my laptop that I know of or have ever used.
The CMD files

This one was done a minute or so later after the connection stopped searching and came up with the "Limited or no connection" balloon.

Hi KlickingKarl,

Possibly this is a drivers issue, So go ahead and uninstall drivers for both Wi-fi and Bluetooth.

1. Uninstall Drivers for booth Wi fi and Bluetooth.
2. Restart PC
3. Go to device manager and check if you see any device with Yellow triangle or Question mark.
4. Then download correct and latest drivers from manufactures website(Recommended)
4. Before installing drivers run some good antivirus like Avast Home and run boot time scan
5. Reinstall drivers and then Restart PC
6. Try to connect and check what happens ?

Try this this should work.

Chris
