Limited or no connection

Hello,

I am using XP professional I encountered a problem with my Internet
connection I keep getting "no limited or no connection" message poping up
from from my desktop. Before I was able to go to the Interenet, received
mail without a problem. I thought it was my cable so I remove the cable and
plug it into my laptop, it works fine. I gone and trying to repair local
area connection, but I get this error message "Windows could not finish
reparing the problem because the following action cannot be complete
Renewing your IP address. For assistance, contact the person who manages
your network." XP security center shows that the Firewall is not
monitored. I had the cable guys came by and told me it was my desk, but it
was working OK before. I am using Trend Micro Internet Security 2007
software and it can't access their server to do any updates. What can I do?
Any websites to visit or tips will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in
advance.

Does Trend Micro Internet Security have a Firewall? if so turn it off and
try your connection.
