LifeCam VX-1000 Audio Problem

My LifeCam VX1000 seems to work fine. From the Sounds & Audio control panel,
I can test the hardware, and the voice recording works fine. However... when
I connect to my brother who also has a LifeCam VX1000 on AOL, AIM, or
anything else, I can hear and see him, but he can only see me (and not hear
me). In the AIM window where my MIC slider is, the indicator does not move
no matter how loud I yell into my LifeCam's Mic. (though if the Audio Control
Panel is open, the meter reflects my voice just fine). What is going on???
