Licensing Server Problem

I recently upgraded our domain from NT to 2k. We started getting errors
saying the licensing server could not be found. The existing licensing
server service would not start. It was on a member server. Installed the
license server on the DC and activated it with no problem. I uninstalled
the service on the member server. I am still getting event 1010 on TS. I
even made the registy entry IAW 239107 but still get the error. So far only
1 workstaion has been issued a license. It is a 2k Pro. We have about 95
XP Pro and 75 2k Pro workstations. Most of these have been logged on to
various TS servers on our doamin. I reviewed 270898. I am a domain admin
but was not an enterprise admin when I installed the new license server. I
am not sure how to confirm if installed properly IAW 270898. We still have
a NT TS which is a BDC and the NT TS license server.

Are your clients still able to connect? If so, you might not have
a problem at all.
After you override the normal licensing discovery (iaw 239107),
EventID 1010 might continue to occur in your EventLogs and can
safely be ignored if the clients can connect. You should not need
this registry entry, though.
The fact that 1 client actually received a TS CAL seems to
indicate that the LS is functioning. The fact that the other
clients are not shown in TS Licensing Manager is probably because
they still have a valid TS CAL. When their TS CAL expires, they
will try to renew it, and then they will show up in the TS
Licensing Manager.

How did you install the LS? In Enterprise mode or in Domain mode?
If in Domain mode, your permissions should be enough. If you
installed the LS in Enterprise mode, you will have to install it
again with Enterprise Administrator privileges.
