Licensing Problems - URGENT

Can anyone please help?

I have a server which I have just restore from backup (we
did a disk upgrade).

However, now it is saying it has run out of Windows
Licenses. And in the License manager it says it has 20
licenses and has reached 24. We bought 20 licenses, and
we only using about 14 at any one time (it is in per
server mode).

I have tried following the instructions from KB article
153140 - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=kb;en-us;153140&Product=win2000

However this did nothing.

How can I reset the license usage of this server. Even
when only 1 person is logged onto the server it says that
24 licenses are being used.

This is an urgent problem, can anyone help?

TIA
Emma :)

I have just recalled the advice we were given by
microsoft when we had this problem previously.

I will post it here for the benefit of anyone else
experiencing this problem.

Just stop the Licensing Service and set it to Manual
start.

So long as you have purchased sufficient licenses for
your use of Windows 2000, you can turn off license
logging. This will stop these errors appearing.

Hope this helps someone else....

Funny how the light bulb suddenly goes on isn't it? ha

I think your problem would have been fixed by changing the
license mode to Per Seat.
Per Server means it counts the number of connections, one
connection uses one license, a Client PC can use more than one
connection though.
Per Seat means it counts the number of Clients, no matter how
many connections are made by a Client.
If your number of licenses is equal or greater than the actual
number of Clients, you should choose Per Seat license mode.
