Licensing Logging Service Hangs

OS: Server 2K
SP4 and all critical updates
Domain Controller

The license logging service keeps hanging on me when I attempt to restart it
through "services". It just gives me the same generic message that the
service didn't start in a "timely fashion". I'm not sure what is going on
and I'd like to fix this because I getting hundred of warning on my end user
stations that say that the computer cannot contact the licensing server
server on \\Server.

Thanks
Russ

License logging is buggy. Stop and disable the service, and keep track of
your licenses manually. The service is not mandatory.

This would be a great solution, but it doesn't solve the problem. I have
workstations that complain constantly that it cannot reach the licensing
logging service on the domain controller.

But I think it would stop the problem. I do this all the time with no error
messages whatsoever. Have you tried it?

Yes, the service has been stopped for about a month and the errors won't go
away.

Are you suggesting stopping the service on the client? If so, I'm sure that
the messages will subside on the clients machine, but I don't feel as though
I've resolved the issue. I work in an environment where we take all
messages in the event viewer seriously.
