Bought a Dell, (WindowsXP factory installed and a Lexmark
X73 printer). Trying to install software Dell has sent
for Lexmark X73 printer, but halfway through the install
I am recieving message "has not passed windows logo
testing to verify its compatibility with WindowsXP". Is
there software from hardware vendor that has passed logo
testing? Not sure how to proceed. Help please.

1. If you still have the original packaging for the X73
then I suggest that you package it back up and send it
back / take it back. We have an X73 and a Z45 from
Lexmark and they are, bar none, the worst printers to set
up that I have seen in 8 years of PCing. I have now re-
installed my broken HP deskjet 952c ...broken in that for
multi-page jobs I have to sit beside it and pull each
page out after it is printing. I find that manually
intervening with every HP print job is way less
frustrating than trying to get the Lexmarks to work
properly.

2. If you can no longer return the Lexmark then:
a) buy a rowboat and use the Lexmark as a boat anchor
b) take it to a skeet shooting range and load it into the
gizmo that fires the clay pigeons into the air. Lose all
of your frustrations and blow it away.

3. Always buy HP (no I am not an HP employee nor do I own
HP shares.

Karen, I have this printer too. You need to go to Lexmark
site and download another driver for XP. Be sure to first
down the clean.exe file to clean out all the old files etc.
Lexmark gives it all to you...they are also helpful if you
email their tech support!
