left click on mouse frozen

I have lost the ability to left click, "enter" included most of the time --
have had much difficulty even being able to post. Lately, have used the right
click & open trick, but it doesn't always work & problem seems to be getting
worse. Any help?

Try changing the mouse's double-click timing settings in Control Panel.
Do a System Restore back to a time when the mouse was working.
Try a different mouse?
