My laptop account was created as a domain account. Outlook
automatically accessed the exchange server. That account no longer
exists on the network, but I can still use it on the laptop. I have
much work in this account on the laptop. However, I can't start
Outlook because it exits when I ask to work offline. The error
message says "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open
the Outlook window. The set of folders could not be opened.". What
do I have to do to launch Outlook successfully? I want to use it to
access PST files. I am using Windows 2003 and Office 2003.

Thanks.

Did you remove the Exchange account from the mail profile by chance?

No, I didn't. I created an offline profile, but Outlook still kept on exiting.
I wasn't sure whether the offline profile was being skipped over in favour of
original online profile.

As it turns out, your response above prompted me to take a 2nd look at the
profiles using ControlPanel->Mail. I was able to set it so that it prompted me
for the offline profile, and that prevented Outlook from exiting. Problem solved.

Thank you.

I'm glad you figured it out.
