large contact list

I have over 3000 contact thus taking a long time to generate information. I
also have a huge number of messages (over 1000) . Is there an upgrade to
Outlook that can handle this large a volumn making it easier for me to move
through the system. thanks Anne

Um. No idea as you have not told us which version of Outlook you want to
"upgrade" from.

What exact functions are slow?

I've similar issue with a contacts public folder with 63.000+ items: searching for an item is quite slow (10-15 sec).
while searching, appear a tooltip into the try icon that says that exchange is fetching data.
is there a way to add a index to the folder to speed up searching for items?
Im using outlook with exchange 2007 sp1.
