hello...
is windows xp made differently for laptops then for desktop?
i have dell latitude laptop ...can i install ordinary widows xp or
should i have special windows made for dell laptops only?

You can install any operating system you like on any laptop - as long as you
have drivers for any out-of-the-normal hardware you'll be fine. My Toshiba
Tecra has had Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP and several flavours of
Linux on it with no problems whatsoever....

Tablets, yes. Laptops - no.

Windows XP Home, Professional, Media Center will all work fine.
However - if it came with Windows XP - Dell was required to give you a
method to restore it to XP.
