Laptop Monitor

Hello all. I am currently working on a laptop running XP. The issue I'm
having is a very fuzzy and pixilated screen. I have changed settings for the
display, lowering the pixels, to no avail. I have uninstalled the display
drivers and then reinstalled to no avail. I have restarted in Safe Mode and
the pixelation continues leading me to think it is not something like a virus
or hijacker. The distortion seems to be embedded in the actual screen. I
think it may be the actual monitor going bad and may need to be replaced. Any
suggestions.
Thanks

Try connecting an external monitor and seeing what the results are. Most
laptops have an external video connector. If that improves the display,
then yes, it's possible that the laptop display is failing.

Unfortunately, the display is probably a laptop's single most expensive
component, so get a quote before committing to the work, and compare it with
the cost of replacing the laptop itself.

Another test is to boot from a "live" CD for something like Ubuntu, a Linux
version. These can be downloaded for free. Doing this won't use any of
the Windows files, or really anything on the hard disk, so you can be sure
that what you're looking at has nothing to do with the Windows install or
any other software loaded to the hard disk.
