Laptop battery Problem Help

I was saved to Save Others, How about you?

I have a Compaq r3007ap that will not charge up in Windows XP home, the
battery indicator does not appear in windows on the taskbar, I go into
Mandriva(Linux) and it charges up, but It shows me that the ac adaptor
is not connecting properly, by showing that the Laptop is either running
on battery or not by the icon in the try icons, can anyone give us some
help or a clue?

Considering that your battery is supposed to charge
even if your computer is off...
It's not likley that it could be anything to do with your OS.
