Laptop AC Adapter and Laptop Battery Question

J

Justin

The AC adapter to a HP zd8000 laptop is broken and needs to be replaced. HP
however nolonger sells the AC adapter but sells a number of other AC adapters
for the zd8000. My question is, would it be okay to use one of these other AC
adapters with the current laptop battery? i.e. Does the AC Adapter need to
match the laptop battery it's connected to.

At the very least, the substitute AC adapter should be able to provide
the same power specifications as the original in addition to having the
proper power pin-outs for the specific laptop. Not all power "bricks",
although they might look identical, might not be.

And check the specs (more specifically) on its output voltage, max or rated
output current - and make certain the output polarity is correct for his
laptop.

You would have been better off cross posting this rather than multiposting
it. At least that way the responses in the other groups would be visible to
all the groups.

While a little more expensive you can buy a "Universal" Notebook
AC-to-DC adapter at Radio Shack. I use one for notebook repair
where the power brick is missing or defective. The output voltage
is selectable and comes with an assortment of plugs. It is important
that you orient the +/- terminals correctly. Usually, a notebook will
have a label on the bottom that has power information. Also if you
have a Batteries+ store in your area they usually have a large choice
of AC power units for notebooks. The Radio Shack unit is a lot
more expensive than a OEM replacement - running around ~$90.

The AC adapter does not connect directly to the battery. It connects
to the laptop's AC In jack which is then connected to the laptop's
power system and battery charger.

If HP does not sell the correct AC adapter for your laptop, you are
then limited to look accross the Internet for a used one or a "end of
live" product sale.

Why ask HERE? What does this purely hardware related question have to
with XP?? NOTHING.

Ask elsewhere

They'd be better off asking somewhere where it would be appropriate,
dip.

Only HP could possibly answer that question, as they have access to all
of the pertinent technical specifications.

There are a number of sites on the web that can be located using Google
which sell HP laptop AC power adapters.

I just bought an extra to leave in my travel case to avoid disconnecting
and connecting from my home location and to avoid simply forgetting to
take the brick and cords.

Many of the adapters are made for Compaq models and the original part
number is on the brick as well as an alternate number for a replacement.
Should not be hard to find what you need.

Ask your teacher to explain to you how to construct grammatically correct
sentences.

Now **** off back to your homework and leave the grown ups to solve others
problems. Something that you have never done.

Justin: Ignore the newsnet nazi. Do yourself a favour and killfile the twat
now (Saves time later).

Nice mouth. Do your kiss your wife (sister? I'm not sure) with that
mouth?

The fact that you have devolved to profanity shows YOUR immaturity.

Justin: Ignore M.I. He's a dip.

Fortunately, I doubt very much that they believe you - that is that small
handful of people that haven't killfiled you.

I'm sure Justin has already worked out who is what. Dosn't bode well for
you though.
