Dell Insp. 9300 battery query

Hi all
After almost two years of successful use of this computer, my lithium
battery died. I have only used the computer while the AC Adapter was plugged
into the AC outlet all of this time. My question is...
Can the computer work normally without replacing the dead battery, as I
don't intend to use the replacement battery either.
Thanks for any helpful info.

Yes, it can. Note that batteries don't always respond that well to being
fully charged all the time, and that they do have limited lifespans.

Yes. (You can order a replacement battery from Dell for ~$50 US, including
shipping & handling.)

Best bet is to get a new battery from Dell.

I'm with you; don't replace the old battery. If the battery is part of
the outer case, leave the old one in there, but if the battery is mostly
internal, you could remove it, making the laptop lighter, without fear
of shorting the contacts with external objects.
