Language Selection

Does XP allow you to easily switch languages (to french) and how? I would
like to use a QZERTY type keyboard, for a computer to be used in Morocco. I
would also like to plug in a different keyboard QWERTY so I can use the
keyboard in english. Is this possbie?
Are there any resources out there that explains language selection, and if
one can easily change languages? Does the QZERTY and QWERTY keyboards both
use 7 bit ASCII, and not extended ASCII?

I know lots of questions, any answers would be greatly appreciated.

To have multiple languages on your system you will need to install XP in
english and then add the relevant language packs. I believe these language
packs are only available to corporate customers, which basically means that
this option is probably not available to you.

Keyboard layouts, however, are easy. Look at

You can not normally "switch" XP languaage. What ever language version of
Xp you installed, that is the language that you will have to use.

However, you can add/change/remove the keyboard input languages, in Control
Panel --> Regional and Language Options.

Install the keyboard for the flavor of French you want from
the Control Panel. (Control Panel > Regional and Language
Options > Languages > Details > Add)

Thereafter you can toggle between the English and French
keyboards by pressing left alt and left shift at the same
time.

You can have two different keyboards on a system at the same
time if you connect at least one of them via a USB port. One
could be the English layout and the other French. To switch
between input languages however you'll still have to do the
left-alt left-shift thing.

Go to Control Panel - Regional And Language Options. Take the Language
page and click Details.
There click on Add and search for French (France - nearest) in the two
drop downs, so you have French (France) and French in those two panes.
Click OK. Then in the parent page, select this combination in the
Default Input language in the top drop down, Apply, OK and Apply any
time it is available on the way as you OK out. Then close and restart
to bring it into use. You can use the Language bar button first to
setup a task bar icon for changing, or the Key settings to set a hot key
combo to swap with
