language packs

I've been trying to translate some japanese to english using Altavista's
Babelfish. I receive a msg saying that I need to install the Japanese
language pack and to do so I need to install the Windows XP install disk,
which I did. I received an error saying that it couldn't find files in
D:\I386\LANG. Does the Microsoft site offer this language pack (and which
one!)

thanks!

Hello Tom.

You need to install "East Asian lanugage" from control panel.
MS doesn't offer any website for it. You need Windows XP CD.

If you don't have WinXP CD, search for "\i386" folder in your HD or
find a friend who has retail WinXP CD.

Please refer to:

Good Luck!

Thanks Matt!
That website was very helpful, but to no avail. Neither \I386 directories
(HD or install cd) has a LANG directory and none of the files can be found
(i.e. msmincho.ttc)

It's a preloaded system, the CD says "Windows XP-Home Edition - Use this DVD
to reinstall your operating system"
which I believe is the correct disk. Quite confused.

Thanks again
