I have a program that will not run properly if the settings in IE6 for
Tools/Internet options/Connections/Lan Settings/ ..... . If there is a
"Check" mark in the box for "proxy server", my program will not work
properly. Even though I uncheck that box,the box will reappear with a
"check" in it after just a few minutes of my browsing. I do not have a
network (just a single computer) and would like to be able to do
whatever is necessary to to keep that box unchecked. Please help or
suggest what I might do to solve this problem. Thanks

If you are 100% sure that you do not use a proxy to connect to the
Internet or to get your mail, then run a scan with a current antivirus
using updated definitions. You should also have a firewall installed,
and remove any accumulated spyware with Spybot Search & Destroy,
Ad-aware, and the like.
