Lack of updates!

I have been running this beta software for about a month,
and as yet I have never had any updates on the
installation when I run the "Check for updates" option.

Unlike the 3 other programs I am running that seem to
find spyware daily, about 50% of the time I perform
the "update" option, they find an update so they are
keeping their database up to date.

It seems that Microsoft have failed to keep the database
as up to date as the other 3 -
Lavasoft's "Adaware"
PC Tools' "Spyware Doctor"
Safer Networking's "Spybot Search & Destroy"

WHY NOT?
I know it's a Beta version, but this seems like a major
failing.

When Microsoft AntiSpyware beta 1 was just release, I think its definition
was 5682 and its now at 5701, so definitions have been released for MSAS
ever since. Ensure you are running the latest build .509, you can download
it here:
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...-fca2f2c6f0cc/MicrosoftAntiSpywareInstall.exe

Also, ensure that your web browser (Internet Explorer) is on line. Open IE,
click File and ensure that Work Off line is not checked.
Best recommendation then would be torestart in safe mode and do a deep
scan. On the Scan Page choose Scan Options > Full System Scan. Do this at
least two times until detects something. Also, before you restart in safe
mode, disable System Restore, some trojans and spyware programs are likely
to restore themselves with system snap shots:

Right click My Computer > Properties > System Restore, check the "Disable
System Restore" check box and restart in safe mode.

Restart in safe mode instructions:

windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx

Remember, this is still beta and cannot be judged as a finished shipping
product. I also recommend using additional AntiSpyware utilities in tandem
with Microsoft AntiSpyware, also use your Antivirus solution to do a
thorough scan in safe mode also and ensure that it fully up to date.
