KIXTART ERROR WHEN INSTALLING PROGRAMS

I have a Windows XP problem:

After getting Cisco VPN installed on laptop, received an
error 'KIXTART main executable has encountered problem and
needs to close' after clicking on 'Connect' to start the
program. Kix32.exe is the main executible for kixtart and
it is located in the c:\windows\prefetch folder. REplacing
the kix32.exe file does not resolve the problem. Can the
Prefetch folder be deleted without harming the system?
Unable find any information regarding this error.

The Prefetch folder is a legitimate, but not necessarily
essential, part of XP. Some people disable it or clean it
out with programs like "Windows XP Prefetch Clean And
Control." The folder itself is not your culprit.
