I have keyboard at home and when I connect them to my
computer that has Windows XP on it the keyboards do not
work I get a keyboard error message. I can connect them
back to my other computer and they work just fine....I
need a new Keyboard and was wondering how I can tell
which one to buy...some work and some do not can anyone
help me with this problem.....

James, this is not a hardware problem. It is a problem of the driver
software that works between Windows XP and your keyboard. While a new
keyboard would be Windows XP-compatible, if you don't need new hardware
there is a better solution. An updated, Win XP-compatible driver, available
for free download from the website of your keyboard's manufacturer.
In order to get the correct driver, you will need to first look on the
bottom of your keyboard and note the model number (M/N).
