Keyboard Stops at Login

hello

i have a comp running winXp w/ SP2 and recently my keyboard will not let me
login

it will respond fine during post and then when i get to the login screen it
will not enter text

the mouse also will move where i want it to go but it doesnt change to a
cursor over the password enter box

i think it might be a system corruption b/c the windows splash screen only
goes through the cycle/rotation of the loading bar when it usually takes 10

Keyboard is a ps/2 NOT A USB
mouse is same

Try a different keyboard and a different type of keyboard ie USB.
