i'm using a logitech internet navigator keyboard. have had it for 18 months.
just the other day when i hit the left shift key, it started launching
windows media player. the right shift key operates the volume control and
master mute. i did not program any hot keys and logitech support says it's
not the keyboard.i tried to configure the keys using the logitech software
but there is no function given for the shift keys. they aren't even listed as
hot keys. i have done a thurough scan for viruses and malware. none found. i
am using windows xp pro sp2. any help appreciated.

How can Logitech support know it's not the keyboard? It sounds to me
like your keyboard is getting elderly. Hardware doesn't necessarily
last forever you know.

You could test the keyboard by installing it on another machine. If it
misbehaves there, then you know the keyboard is toast and should be
replaced.

I wouldn't have believed I would ever wear out a keyboard, but that was it.
My previous $10 keyboard lasted 5 years. Thanks a million Malke.

Does it do this with other keyboards?

And yes, I also had a keyboard for a few years that was previously owned by
relatives, it probably predates Windows 3.11. And the keyboard I am using now
is 3 years old.
