I have a microsoft 'multimedia' keyboard, and just got a
USB Optical Intellimouse.
It all worked fine for a while, then i rebooted.
Windows loads up perfectly, but the keyboard & mouse
don't respond.
The keyboard works fine in Bios, and on the WinXP Boot
Menu, but as soon as the logo comes up, the keyboard
stops working. None of the LED's will turn on or off
(caps, num & Scroll locks).
I have no errors, and i'm confused!!
help!

Try removing the device and add a diffrent keyboard to teh
machine and see if it works if it does then there seems to
be a problem with your multimedia keyboard... see if you
can remove it and re install it with some updates have a
look on the Windowsupdate site
(windowsupdate.microsot.com) and see if there are any
patches or drivers for it there....

i have the exact same problem as che, though i am using win2k...

it is with a ps/2 keyboard. I can use bios and dos and windows 98 all fine. When i upgraded to win2k my keyboard stops working at the windows2k startup screen. I have since replaced the motherboard and hard drive and keyboard(ps/2) to see if there where any problems there, and it still has the same result. I have tried safe mode also, and still nothing. The keyboard option/heading does not even appear in the device manager...

I then used the mouse(serial, though a ps/2 mouse works fine) to connect to the net and download all of the latest windows updates to this date. It is also a fresh hard drive with a clean install of win 98 upgraded to win2k(that was the only way I could install win2k with just the mouse), So therefore there are no viruses to my knowledge.
I am very baffled at this problem, and wondering if you have encountered it before, as i can see a few other user have as well, but with no replies...
This is very urgent as i plan for this machine to act as a server, and it is needed to be operatonal soon...
Thanks
