Weird keyboard problem - Need help!

Recently my keyboard stopped working. I would start up my PC and it would
work fine for about 30 seconds, then all 3 lights (Caps, Scroll and Num
lock), would illuminate and the keyboard would stop responding. Now, however,
when I start up my PC, the keyboard will not work at all and I'm having to
use the virtual keyboard instead. The three lights are still illuminated
though, and sometimes remain so when the computer is shut down. At other
times the keyboard doesn't even power up and doesn't show in the device
manager. Any idea as to what is wrong and how to solve it?
Thanks

Try a different keyboard. Report back with results.

Tried the keyboard in safe mode. It worked. And then not in ordinary. What is
the deal with that?!
Any other suggestions?

If the keyboard works in Safe Mode and not Regular Mode, something is
running in Regular Mode that is either conflicting with the keyboard
drivers or the keyboard drivers/software itself is corrupted. If you
use one of those "multimedia/Internet" keyboards that has special
software, uninstall it and install the latest version. You would get
this from either the keyboard mftr. or the computer mftr. if the
keyboard came with the machine (like HP).

If the change was sudden, ask yourself what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't. If you can pinpoint the change,
reverse it. If not, you can try a System Restore to when things worked.
