Keyboard & Mouse LED's fail to turn off when PC shuts down

Can anybody out there please help me.
I am running Windows XP Home SP2.
I have an AMD Athlon processor.

When I switch my pc off, the LED's on the keyboard and in mouse fail to
switch off.
I know that this never used to be the case with the keyboard and I'm quite
sure it shouldn't be the case with the mouse (but not sure, as its always
been the case).

The only way I can get the LED's to turn off is to completely switch off
from electric socket.
Is there anything in the settings that I can change to make the LED's on
keyboard and mouse turn off when PC shuts down?

Mny thanks, in advance.
John.

you may have not knowingly plugged your mouse and keyboard into the ports the
wrong way try unplugging them and look for any bent pins then plug them back
in
