Keyboard and Mouse not working

I have win 2k Prof with sp3 in my compaq dc6100M PC. today morning when I
started my pc I found that I cannot use my PS2 keyboard or mouse to get into
my computer. after booting when the OS comes to ctrl+alt+Del screen, these
input devices doesn't work. I thought this could be a keyboard or mouse. so,
I changed new keyboard and mouse to my pc and after booting still the problem
persists. I started my pc in safe mode hoping that I can disable any program
which is stopping my input devices to function. To my surprise, my keyboard
and mouse are not working.

I raised this issue with local HP support and they changed my mother board
saying that it could ps2 port problems. after changing also my keyboard and
mouse are not working. what could be the problem. How could I solve this
problems. Kindly help?????

You probably need to get back in touch with HP support.

Have you changed anything recently...
Like RAM upgrade
If so, replace with the original.

If it's not hardware, should be the drivers...
There can be vermits that cause it to look to the wrong drivers.

Check in your BIOS to make sure they are enabled now.

Faulty other hardware doesn't usually cause anything like this, but you
can also take all the hardware out, except the bare minimum.

Have you tried a USB mouse and/or keyboard?

good luck,
don

Im sorry Patrick. there is no problem with HP regarding this problem.
Moreover, If I need to have HP support I would not have logged into technet
to raise this issue. I'm sure this is an OS problem. I can find a solution to
myproblem if I format my pc and reinstall my Win2k OS. But that is not what
I'm looking for. I need to have this solution so that It would be helpful for
many users who faces similiar kind of problem. Thank you for the reply for my
post.

Hi Don,
Thank u for the reply to my post. I have checked what you mentioned over
here before posting my problem. Still I could not solve the problem. this is
only purely an OS problem not hardware or anything. I can find a solution if
I format my PC and reinstall Win2k OS to my PC. But I do not want that way.
If there is a solution to this problem then it would be helpful for many
users who faces this similar problem

OK, that works for me but IMO it's either a hardware or driver issue.

USB is not working. After replacing with the new key board , I checked for
possibilities for connecting Device to USB Ports but still the same scenario.
Any other suggestions

More than likely the hardware ports have failed.
