Keeps Restarting

I have a Compaq computer and after installing XP I can't
turn the darn thing off. I click on turn off and it shuts
down and then restarts. The only way to shut down is to
pull the plug. Any suggestions? Dan

try to go into the bios settings (?F2?) on start up and look for something
like enable smart power management, and enable it!
I had a similar prob a while ago - not on a Compaq though.

Look in BIOS setup, useally by holding delete or F1 or F2 at startup, and be
sure Advanced Power Management options are enabled. Right click on WinXP's
desktop Properties>Screen Saver>Power>??? and be sure APM is enabled (not
always an available option).
