KB886903 Install Problems - Is this the answer?

Like many others, auto update has tried and failed about 100 times to install
this update. I have also spent numerous hours on it over the last few weeks.

I succeeded today!

I re-installed .NET 1.1 using dotnetfx.exe, as suggested is numerous
postings. (this had never helped before - when I then tried the update it
always failed)

This time I re-installed the SP1 update first - KB86740. (I had to search
for this and download the exe file because Windows Update thought that I
already had it installed. When it ran, I had to say Yes to Re-Install)

Then I ran the pesky KB886903 and it worked.

Hope this helps someone else!
