KB835732 causes blue screen of death

Hi,

Since I run Windows 2000 Professional SP2 I downloaded
this patch and installed it. Then, after cold boot, when
starting any application I immediately started getting
a "blue screen of death", indicating that "A driver has
corrupted the memory management system PTEs", at which
point the computer locked up (system stop).

The only solution was to go to "Safe" mode and remove the
patch, after which normal operation resumed.

Guess I'll just depend on my firewall and auto-protect
anti-virus agent instead.

Anyone else get this? Will there be a patch for the patch?

You could be one of the unfortunate few that have a conflict with a patch. I have not
heard of widespread problems. You might try installing it in safe mode with
networking or download it and then try safe mode. Safe mode with networking should
not be used software firewalls are used to protect a computer as they will most
likely not be enabled in safe mode. --- Steve

How do you remove the patch when in safe mode? (similar problem after
instaling the security patch on my W2K system)

Thanks,

Hi

Yes I had the same problem! MSN should take the patch off
of the list before most of the computers out there go to
BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!
