Just Upgraded from XP SR2 to XP Pro SR2

Have just completed this upgrade on 2 systems - on the first no problems - on
the second the machine no longer will recognise usb drives or memory cards
inserted. The show as installed in Device Manager and as working - but
neither Explorer or My Computer shows them - under XP there was not a
problem, The USB ports are working fine with other hardware. Used the same
version upgrade on both but different disks

Do you mean you upgraded from Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2
(SP2) to Windows XP Professional Edition with Service Pack 2 (SP2)?

I would first verify you have the latest motherboard chipset drivers
installed. I have seen that alone solve many USB issues.

Just visit the web page of the manufacturer of your motherboard (or computer
in csome cases - like Dell, etc) and find the chipset drivers for your
operating system and download/install them and reboot.

Have tried loading latest drivers - even the inbuilt memory card reader
which is shown in Device Manager and which lights when memory is installed is
not showing in Explorer or My Computer- but did work before the upgrade?
