just did a dcpromo

hey all,
i changed the ip and dns of the server before i ran the dcpromo and after
the install completed normally i checked the dhcp server and beside the small
server icon the ip address shows that 10.10.1.1 .

can someone please explain why this is? and if it needs to be fixed and how?

Since you failed to mention what you changed the IP address to..........I
have to assume that you changed it to 10.10.1.1.

heheh oops my bad,
i changed the ip to 192.168.0.2

Hello,

If you changed your server to a static IP address of 192.168.0.2, your DHCP
server might not be aware of this change yet. DHCP servers lease out IP
addresses for a period of time. Because of this, your DHCP server might
still be reserving that IP address for your server. You can take two
actions 1) delete the record/lease from your DHCP server or 2) wait a couple
of days, it will time out and tombstone itself, freeing up the IP address
for another machine to use.
