First of all I am a NOVICE at computers, so bear with me. I just build a new
computer from components, and loaded Windows 2K Professional. Everything
went well, but when I try to install the modem, (Motorola 56K) it is
recognized as a plug and play as a PCI Simple Communications Controller. No
driver can be found, and when I choose a driver, it loads it successfully,
but when I run a diagnostic, it says "This device is not configured
correctly. (Code 1)" When I try to manually add hardward as a modem, it
gives me a choice of Com 1 or Com 2. I have tried both, and has been added
successfully, but when I run diagnostics, it says it is operating properly,
but says the computer can't communicate with the modem. An occasional
message is that the interrupt for the port may not be properly set. As I
said earlier, I am a novice at this but can usually tackle about anything I
attempt. This one has me beat.

thanks,,,

Some modems can be a pain to setup, try uninstalling it and then turning off
your Com Ports in your BIOS then reinstalling it.
