Hi
My os is XP HE and have an Intel MB with 1gb Ram and a
115 gb HD.
Have purchased a new Sony 256 Microvault Jump Drive which
gives me an I/O error message. My Lexar 128 mb works
perfectly and Sony support tell me that the input/output
error lies with my computer and they are unable to
assist. All my USB (1.1) ports work with other devices.
I have tried the Sony Jump Drive on friend's computers
(both XPHE and XPpro) and it works on theirs.
Can anyone advise me?

Yes I did, It works perfectly on computers with both XP
HE and XP pro

First, Sony's drives are not labeled Jump Drive. That is the name of the
Lexar models.

Second, I think, maybe, that the Sony Microvaults may not work on USB 1.1.
Do you have Service Pack 1 installed and any USB 2 ports?

And even then it might be worth getting the post SP1 USB2.0 driver
update (which will probably be good for USB 1.1 too).

Also connect direct in to the machine's port; not via a hub
