jdbmgr.exe is the Java Debugger Manager in Windows. Your
friend's suggestion probably relates to a common hoax
email that instructs you to delet it. However, there,
evidently, is now a virus scheme that takes advantage of

This is a well known hoax to get people to delete this file from their
computer. It is not a virus. You probably will not need this file as it is
a debugging program for java programming and Windows XX will run fine
without it.

The mail that goes around is a hoax. But if you deleted the file there
is no real problem - it is only used by people developing Java
applications.
Note that the icon for the genuine one is a teddy bear - there is a very
similarly named file with a screwdriver icon: that one *is* a trojan
